Windy City Style

I love to travel – city, beach, a weekend, a month, backpacking in Europe, exploring Asia – I’m up for anything. Over the years, I’ve been working to cultivate a travel style that is really me; I have pinterest board upon pinterest board of travel style inspiration, but most of it doesn’t translate well to my actual trips and wardrobe. I end up buying new things for a trip to copy one or two looks and packing “normal” clothes (i.e. Jeans and t shirt) for the rest.
My newest mantra is to pack my favorite staples from home and integrate them into my trip. There is no reason I need to buy new pieces just because I’m going to a new city and saw something cute on Instagram – if something is a good fit for me, it’ll be something I invest in BEFORE I leave town. This isn’t to say I can’t buy new things for a trip, but they need to be things I love and want to incorporate into my Louisville style too. With that in mind – I packed for Chicago.

While this wasn’t as “planned” as my trips usually are, I packed pretty minimally and wore almost everything I took. There’s nothing more annoying than lugging a giant bag through a hotel lobby only to wear a fraction of the pieces! I’m always glad when I can bring most things home having been used.
All that being said: Here’s my first “weekend getaway” outfit of the day post.

Wearing:
Black LuLaRoe “Nicole” dress – LuLaRoe MGWells stash. Check out our shop page here to join our shopping groups and see new inventory as it comes in!
Chunky gemstone necklace – local market, but there are several types on etsy as well! Click here to see a favorite shop I’ve purchased from in the past:
